Magazines
Goldeneye 007 had some coverage in gaming magazines prior to its release, although not as much as we would like. It was really after the game released that magazines really picked up on it. This page covers GoldenEye articles from the first articles in March 1995 up through the end of 1997 and a couple beyond. The list is organized in chronological order.
Total! • Issue 39 • March 1995
This is either the first or second mention of a GoldenEye video game in a magazine. Disappointingly it really gives no detail other than to optimistically predict GoldenEye would be released later the same year.
Super Gamer • Issue 12 • March 1995
This blurb on the bottom left gives a little more detail than the last. The author correctly claims that GoldenEye would use Pierce Brosnan's likeness, although they were under the impression it would be a 2D Super Nintendo game.
Nintendo Power • Volume 71 • April 1995
This is the first in-depth magazine article on GoldenEye the video game. The article describes GoldenEye as a Super Nintendo game, although we know that project lead Martin Hollis with pitching the game for the "Ultra 64" around this time. "Ultra 64" was the early name of the Nintendo 64. The article writer was under the impression that GoldenEye would make use of prerendered sprites in a similar fashion to Donkey Kong Country. I'm sure this was not intentional misinformation, but just the result of Nintendo Power being unaware that GoldenEye would be a Nintendo 64 game.
Nintendo Magazine System (AU) • Issue #25 • April 1995
This issue of Nintendo Magazine System, the official Nintendo magazine for Australia, also came out in April 1995. Like Nintendo Power, they believed GoldenEye would be a SNES game. I'm not sure why the article claims Pierce Brosnan is an American actor. He is actually from Ireland.
Hyper • Issue #19 • June 1995
There is a small amount of information on GoldenEye in the upper right column. Like the magazines before, Hyper was under the impression GoldenEye would be a 2D platformer.
Nintendo Power • Volume #80 • January 1996
Maximum • Issue #3 • January 1996
One of the first articles to reveal that GoldenEye would be a fully 3D game for the Ultra 64. It features two screenshots from the Shoshinkai 1995 trade show which was held from November 24 to November 26 in Tokyo, the first public demonstration of GoldenEye.
GameFan • Volume 4 Issue #1 • January 1996
CD Consoles • Issue #13 • January 1996
Consoles • Issue #50 • January 1996
Computer and Video Games • Issue #171 • February 1996
This article has some nice quotations directly from Martin Hollis. It also includes some information taken directly from the Design Document.
Nintendo Magazine System • Issue #41 • February 1996
Similar to the last article. It has screen caps from Shoshinkai '95 and includes information from the Design Document.
Nintendo Magazine System (AU) • Issue #37 • April 1996
GamePro • Issue #92 • May 1996
This blurb pegs GoldenEye at 30% complete which seems fairly plausible.
Nintendo Power • Volume 85 • June 1996
Maximum • Issue #7 • June 1996
This UK magazine has screen caps from the GoldenEye E3 1996 demo. No idea what they mean when they write, "Rumours abound that there’s a Doom-type level." E3 1996 was held from May 16 to May 18.
Страна Игр (Gameland) • June 1996
Russian language GoldenEye preview.
Club Nintendo (Mexico) • Year 5 #7 • July 1996
Fun Generation • July 1996
German language GoldenEye preview.
Total! • Issue #56 • August 1996
This article gives an update on GoldenEye after its E3 1996 appearance. It correctly points out that the controller's analog stick allows the player to control their speed, but also has some strange inaccuracies such as claiming Bond would be able to jump.
Dengeki Nintendo 64 • Issue #3 • August 1996
Club Nintendo (Argentina) • Year 5 #8 • August 1996
GamePro • Issue #95 • August 1996
Funny enough this blurb estimates GoldenEye at 10% complete even though an earlier issue of the same magazine had it at 30%. Personally I think 10% is too low of an estimate for August 1996.
Electronic Gaming Monthly • Issue #88 • November 1996

Next Generation • Issue #29 • May 1997
Nintendo E3 Press Kit • June 1997
Ok, maybe not a magazine, but I still wanted to include it.
Nintendo Power Guide to E3 • June 1997
Like the last entry, perhaps this isn't a magazine, but it's worthy of inclusion for its prerelease screenshots.

Cool French language guide with nice watercolor illustrations. It's pretty long so I won't repost the whole document here, but I recommend checking out the issue on the Internet Archive.
