Complex
Description
Complex is a multiplayer arena designed specifically for multiplayer. It is generally a favorite among GoldenEye 007 players. The level is known for its blood-red sky, tight quarters combat, metallic aesthetic, and numerous secret hiding spots. The name Complex comes from the full name of the Aztec level which is "Aztec Complex."

Secret Hiding Spots
There are four places in Complex where you can walk through the wall and into small hiding spots. They were added by the level designer, Karl Hilton, who wanted an advantage over his opponents during play testing sessions.
"The secret hiding places in the Complex...that purely came out of me cheating because I was getting my ass handed to me playing the multiplayer...no one could work out how I kept coming out of places they didn't know I was and killing them from behind."
— Karl Hilton, Level Designer (Source)
Spot #1
This hiding spot is in the central room with the long thin skylight beneath one of the ramps and next to the vent duct.
Spot #2
This one is in the back corner of the room with a bunch of columns.
Spot #3
Hiding spot #3 is on the second level at the top of a ramp.
Spot #4
The final hiding spot is also on the second level in the room with the walkway that goes around its circumference.
Curiosities
1. Watering Holes
In Complex there are some pits with black bottoms. One might assume there is nothing of interest at the bottom, but that's not quite the case. There is water at the bottom and it's animated water. The black vertex coloring means you cannot see it, but it's there. The only way to tell in-game is to shoot into the pits and you will hear splash sounds.
In this video the vertex coloring as been altered so the water is visible. The decision to put animated water is a little puzzling because the Nintendo 64 has to constantly run the animation code even though the water cannot be seen. From an optimization standpoint it would be better to have no polygons at the bottom of the pits.
